What is GPS?
GPS stands for the Global Positioning System. It refers to a system of satellites and receivers operated by the United States Department of Defence that allow people and devices to pinpoint their precise location on the earth. The heart of the system relies on 24 satellites that orbit the earth twice per day. Devices that are equipped with GPS equipment receive transmissions from at least a few of the satellites and are able to discern very precise positioning data.
How Does GPS Work?
The GPS receiver has an internal antenna that receives signals from the constellation of GPS satellites. Using the timing of signal reception from multiple satellites, the receiver calculates its own position, speed, and elevation.
How Does Asset Positioning Solutions use GPS Technology?
Asset Positioning Solutions combines the power of satellite-based GPS and wireless networking to provide clients with peace of mind protection of their assets by providing a Stolen Asset Recovery (SAR) product 24/7.
What are Geo-Fences?
A Geo-fence is a virtual boundary laid on the map in the secure tracking portal. When the geo-fence is set, the device will report when it leaves or enters the virtual fence. This allows the customer to make sure a vehicle is not extending its boundary or going to areas it should not be. Customers can set up multiple geo-fences in order to know the locations of their vehicles at all times.
How Does the Module Send Me a Geo-Fence Alert?
You will be required to configure an email address and/or number in the system to receive email and/or text message alerts. When a message arrives from your module, it will be automatically sent once to the address you entered. Please be sure that the email address or phone number you entered is correct when filling out the included registration paperwork.
